Developmental Academy Coaching Staff
Robert Mangino, Academy
Director:
Formerly the Director of Training at DSC, Rob now serves as
the Academy Director. He played HS Soccer at Pioneer Central
where he was voted a member of the All- Western New York
team his senior year. Rob played his college soccer at
Alfred University and SUNY Fredonia both in upstate New
York. He was the head boy’s soccer coach at Dacula High
School for 11 years where he helped begin the program. Rob
has been involved with soccer in the Dacula community for
the past 15 years as a community school coach, camp
director, and most recently Dacula Soccer Club. Rob is part
of the GYSA coaching staff where he teaches the G’ and F’
state coaching licenses. Rob holds his USSF National C, USSF National Youth License, NSCAA National Youth Diploma,
and the NSCAA, Special-topics, High School Coaching Diploma.
Girls Staff
Jeff
Tinklepaugh: Jeff will be in his sixth year of coaching at Dacula Soccer Club where
he moved from our recreational program during the fall of
2003. Jeff currently coaches Varsity Girls soccer at Collins
Hill High School where his 2008 team advanced to the state
tournament. Previously, he was the Junior Varsity Boys coach
at Dacula High School for three seasons as well as the
Junior Varsity boys coach at Central Gwinnett for six
seasons. While at Central Gwinnett, Jeff helped build a
program that played in two Final Fours. Jeff holds his NSCAA
National Coaching Diploma, NSCAA High School, Specials
Topics Diploma, and his USSF National Youth License.
Angela Dean:
Angela will be in her third year at DSC. She grew up in
Coweta County and attended East Coweta County HS where she
was an inaugural member of the first girl’s soccer team and
served as team captain for two seasons. She played her club
soccer for the Peachtree City Lazers. Angela is a
University of Georgia graduate where she obtained both her
undergraduate and masters degrees in education. She
currently works as an English teacher at Collins HS where
she assists both the varsity and junior varsity teams.
Angela currently holds her USSF D coaching License.
Amy
Wilbanks: This is
Amy's second full year at DSC. She grew up in Lawrenceville
and graduated from Collins Hill High School where she was a
4 year letterman. She played club soccer at the Athena level
for West Gwinnett (Now Atlanta Fire United), Snellville
Soccer Association, and Brookwood Soccer Club (Now Georgia
Futbol Club). Amy graduated from North Georgia College and
State University and is now working as a second grade
teacher at Walnut Grove Elementary School. Amy also works
with the Collins Hill Women’s soccer program. Amy is
currently pursuing her USSF D coaching license.
Kevin
Scheiwe: Kevin
will be in third second year as a member of our Academy
staff. Kevin played his High School ball at Duluth HS and
club ball for the Brookwood Steamers and West Gwinnett
Sting. Kevin is currently an elementary Physical Education
teacher in Gwinnett County. Kevin has coached at Duluth HS,
Oconee County HS, and at the Athens YMCA where he directed
the “mighty mites” soccer program, coached a U10 boys select
team, and acted as the U8 recreational coordinator. Kevin
holds his USSF D coaching license and his USSF National
Youth license.
Joe
Aaron: Joe will
be in his fourth year coaching at Dacula Soccer Club. Joe
graduated from Dacula High School and played College soccer
at Reinhardt College where he captained the team. Following
graduation he moved to Chicago and spent a season as an
assistant coach at Trinity College. While in Chicago, Joe
played in the Professional Development League (PDL). In
addition, Joe has spent many summers coaching at various
soccer camps including the University of Georgia women’s
camp. Joe is also an assistant coach at Greater Atlanta
Christian in Gwinnett County. Joe holds his USSF D
License.
Steven Fraser:
Steven will be in his third year at Dacula Soccer Club.
Steven was born and raised in Nottingham, England although
having a very strong Scottish influence with both parents
hailing from “North of the Border.” Steven’s Father, Doug
Fraser was an F.A. Cup winner with West Brom in 1968 and
also captained Scotland at the International level. Although
not quite emulating these achievements Steven also went on
to play in the Professional ranks in England for Grimsby
Town and Lincoln City and had the opportunity to play
against some great players, the highlight being, Alan
Shearer on his full debut for Newcastle after his then
record breaking transfer from Southampton. After his
professional stint Steven went back to school and earned a
degree in Leisure Management and is now The Director of
Operations for a local landscape company.
Boys Staff
Jamie
Wellington: Jamie will be in his third year at DSC. Originally from Orchard Park,
New York, Jamie played college soccer at Houghton College
(NY) where he was a four time All- America selection. After
college Jamie spent seven years playing in the A-League and
the USL with the Charlotte Eagles, New Orleans Gamblers, and
Carolina Dynamo. During his playing career, Jamie was also
an assistant coach at the University of Mobile in Mobile
Alabama. Jamie currently works as an Adaptive Physical
Education teacher in Gwinnett County and is the assistant
men's varsity coach at Mill Creek High School. Previously
Jamie was the assistant at Shiloh HS. Jamie's experience in
education will be an asset to DSC's Academy. Jamie holds
his USSF D License.
Erik
Schmitt: Erik
will be in his third year at DSC. Originally from
Kernersville, North Carolina, Erik played college soccer at
Lenoir-Rhyne and West Virginia Wesleyan where he was a four
year all-conference and three year all=region performer.
After college, Erik taught High School for one year in North
Carolina where he was the junior varsity men’s and women’s
soccer coach. Since moving to Atlanta Erik has coached the
men’s soccer team at The Davis Academy to a conference
title. He is currently working towards his Masters Degree in
School Counseling at Chattahoochee Elementary in Duluth.
Eric holds his USSF D License.
Sean
Garnett: Sean is
in his sixth year with DSC. He played his college soccer at
Appalachian State University. As a club player, he played
alongside Eddie Pope of the U.S. National Team. Before
moving to Georgia, Sean coached High School soccer in North
Carolina for 3 years. Sean is currently the head Varsity
Boys coach at Mill Creek High School. Prior to Mill Creek,
Sean was the head Boys coach at Gainesville HS where his
teams were consistently in the state title hunt. His
Gainesville team was the region 7AAA Champs in 2003 and
2004. In addition Sean was named region 7AAA Coach of the
Year in 2003 and 2004 and the 2005 Georgia State AAA coach
of the year. He coached Club Soccer with Lanier Soccer
before coming to DSC. Sean holds his NSCAA National
Coaching Diploma.
Rick Culberson:
Formerly the Director of Coaching
at DSC, Rick will continue as one of our more experienced
Academy Coaches. A part of the Atlanta soccer scene for over
35 years, Rick began playing when the NASL Atlanta Chiefs
came to town in 1966 and started a youth league at the
Decatur-Dekalb YMCA. As a youth player Rick played for
Father Richard Kafri of Marist School and Scotty O’Neil and
Angus McAlpine, all Georgia Hall of Fame members. In
addition he and won a state championship as a forward in
1970 playing for Lakeside High School in Dekalb County. He
attended one of the first Olympic Development camps in
Dallas, Texas in summer of 1971, coached by Ron Newman of
the Dallas Tornado, and the legendary Detmar Kramer, the
first FIFA developmental coach. Following the ODP camp, he
played four years of varsity soccer at UNC Chapel Hill
1971-1974, and 28 years in the ADASL and other amateur
leagues in and around Atlanta. He has been a referee since
1987, and a licensed coach for over 10 years at Gwinnett
YMCA, West Gwinnett SC (now AUSA), Norcross SA, and GSA.
Rick currently holds USSF National C License.
Chris
Ming: Chris is in
his second year of coaching at Dacula Soccer Club. He has
been the JV boys head coach and assistant Varsity coach at
Grayson High School for two years. Chris hails from
Highland, Michigan where he played high school soccer for
Milford HS and club soccer for the Brighton United Express,
a Little Caesarâ’s Division 1 team. Chris holds his D
license, an NSCAA State Diploma, and an NSCAA State
Goalkeeping Diploma.
Drew Prentice:
Drew is in his second year coaching at DSC. While in
school, he played at Young Harris College where he was a
captain his sophomore year. He then transferred to North
Georgia College and State University where he was a
contributing member to the most successful men's soccer team
in the school's history. His junior year the team competed
in the NAIA SSAC conference and his senior year in the NCAA
Div. II Peachbelt Conference. While still in college, Drew
was an assistant coach at North Gwinnett High School. Upon
graduation Drew took a job at North Gwinnett where he
currently coaches the JV Boys and assistants both Varsity
programs. Drew holds his USSF C License.
